# Frequently Asked Questions

**What should I bring for my lesson or charter?**
Just bring sunscreen, a towel, swimwear, and any snacks/drinks you'd like. We provide all
equipment including boards, life vests, and safety gear.

**What happens if the weather is bad?**
Safety is our top priority. We'll reschedule your booking if weather conditions are unsafe.
We monitor conditions closely and will contact you as early as possible. See the
[cancellation policy](/knowledge/policies/cancellation.md).

**Do you offer lessons for complete beginners?**
Absolutely. Most of our clients are beginners, and our instructors specialize in getting
first-timers up and riding. We start with safety basics and progress at your comfort level.

**What ages do you teach?**
We teach ages 5 and up for regular lessons. Our [summer camps](/knowledge/services/summer-camp.md)
are designed for ages 8–14. There's no upper age limit.

**Can I bring my pet on the boat?**
No. For everyone's safety and to keep our boats and equipment in good condition, pets are
not allowed on lessons or charters.

**How long does it take to learn wakesurfing?**
Most people can get up and ride within their first lesson. Our instructors work with you
until you're comfortable.

**What's the difference between wakesurfing and wakeboarding?**
Wakesurfing is done closer to the boat at slower speeds (10–12 mph) without being pulled by
a rope. Wakeboarding is done at higher speeds (18–24 mph) while holding a rope and involves
jumping off the wake.

**How many people can fit on the boat?**
Our boats can safely accommodate up to 12 people total, including the captain. For the best
experience, we recommend 8–10 people maximum.

**Can we bring our own food and drinks?**
Yes. You can bring any food and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages are allowed for
passengers 21+ with valid ID. We provide coolers and ice.

**What is your cancellation policy?**
Full refunds for cancellations made 24+ hours in advance. Cancellations within 24 hours are
subject to a 50% fee. Weather-related cancellations initiated by us are always fully refunded
or rescheduled at no charge. Full policy: https://boardboundwakeco.com/cancellation

**Is gratuity included?**
Gratuity is not included in our prices. Tips are appreciated but never required. If your
instructor or captain provided exceptional service, a 15–20% tip is customary.

**Can I split the payment with my friends?**
Yes. Just let us know when paying and we'll be happy to accommodate.
