Board Bound Wake Co is a Lakeway, Texas-based watersports company operating on Lake Travis, Lake Austin, Lake LBJ, and Lake Marble Falls, offering private boat charters, wakesurfing and wakeboarding lessons, hydrofoil lessons, and kids summer camps.
We have had some great weeks on the water recently, and we wanted to pull back the curtain a bit and share what has been happening on the boats, what guests have been loving, and what is coming up next.
The Lakes Are in Great Shape Right Now
Lake Travis and Lake Austin have both been in excellent condition for morning sessions. Anyone who has been out early knows what we are talking about — glassy water, hill country skyline, and a wake that holds its shape longer than you would believe. If you have been thinking about booking, this stretch of weather is exactly what you want.
We have also been running sessions out on Lake LBJ and Lake Marble Falls. Both lakes offer a different vibe — more intimate, quieter traffic — and guests who want something a little off the beaten path have been really happy with those options.
What Guests Have Been Loving
Wakesurfing with First-Timers
Week after week, the most satisfying thing we do is take someone who has never stood on a wakesurf board and watch them ride rope-free by the end of the session. Our instructors — Kaden, Hudson, and Harrison — have all grown up on Lake Travis, and that local knowledge makes a real difference when it comes to reading the water and putting guests in the right position to succeed.
A few highlights from recent sessions:
- A family of four — two parents, two kids — all got up on the board on the same day. First try for one of the kids.
- A group of coworkers booked a charter and by the end of the afternoon, the self-described "least athletic" member of the crew was doing slow, confident laps behind the boat, no rope.
- A solo traveler visiting Austin for a work trip added a private lesson at the last minute and described it as the best decision of the trip.
These are the kinds of sessions we live for.
Hydrofoiling Is Turning Heads
We have been offering hydrofoil lessons for a while now, but this season more guests are specifically requesting them. The first time someone gets a clean flight — lifting cleanly off the surface, that quiet glide with just the foil in the water — is genuinely something to see. Hydrofoiling has a steeper learning curve than wakesurfing, but our structured approach — balance training, foil setup, flight control — gets people there faster than they expect.
If you have been curious about it but assumed it was only for advanced riders, talk to us. We have gotten true beginners on a foil and made real progress in a single session.
Charter Groups Having a Full Day on the Water
Our charter bookings have been a mix of birthday celebrations, family reunions, corporate groups, and friend trips. Every charter comes with a licensed captain, all water sports equipment, life vests, a Bluetooth sound system, coolers and ice, and fuel — no hidden costs. Guests consistently mention how much they appreciate not having to think about logistics. You show up, we handle the rest.
The four-hour charter has been our most popular option. It gives groups enough time to rotate through activities — wakesurfing, wakeboarding, the lily pad, or just cruising — without feeling rushed.
Summer Camp Momentum
Our summer camp program on Lake Austin and Lake Travis has been one of the most rewarding things we have built. Watching kids show up on Monday unsure of themselves and leave Friday with real skills, new friends, and a visible confidence boost — that does not get old.
Camps run 9am to 3pm at Walsh Boat Landing on Lake Austin and Mansfield Dam Park on Lake Travis. Everything is included: instruction, equipment, lunch, photos, and end-of-week awards. If you have kids who are curious about watersports, or who need something active and structured for a week this summer, take a look at what we have available.
We also offer private camps for families or small groups who want to pick their own dates and hours. That flexibility has been popular with families who have tight summer schedules.
Behind the Scenes
A few things we have been working on that are worth mentioning:
Video analysis is available in lessons. We record sessions so you can actually see what your body is doing on the board. It sounds simple, but watching yourself from the shore or boat perspective changes how fast you improve. We review the footage with you at the end and give you specific, actionable feedback.
We are growing our referral program. If you have booked with us and want to share the experience with friends, ask us about how it works. We take care of people who send others our way.
Custom packages are available. If a standard two-hour lesson or three-hour charter does not quite fit what you have in mind, we build custom packages. Longer days, multiple lakes, mixed activities — reach out and we will put something together.
What We Are Looking Forward To
The Texas summer is long, which is one of the best things about being based in the hill country. We are looking forward to more first-timers getting up on the board, more groups making memories on the water, and more kids leaving camp with a skill they will carry for the rest of their lives.
If you have been on the fence, now is a good time to get out here. The water is warm, the lakes are in great shape, and we have availability.
