Board Bound Wake Co is a Lakeway, Texas-based watersports and private boat charter company operating on Lake Austin, Lake Travis, Lake LBJ, and Lake Marble Falls — and this summer has been one of the most active seasons we have seen on the water.

We wanted to pull back the curtain a little and share what has been going on behind the scenes, what guests have been loving, and what is new heading into the rest of the summer. Whether you are a returning guest or thinking about booking for the first time, here is the full rundown.

The Boats Have Been Busy — and the Feedback Has Been Incredible

It has been a full summer on the water. Our captains have been running charters and lessons across all four lakes, and the guest response has been everything we could ask for. Across our recent Google reviews, guests continue to highlight our instructors — Kaden, Hudson, and Harrison — by name.

A few things our guests have told us stood out this season:

  • Patience with first-timers. A recurring theme in our reviews is how comfortable our instructors make complete beginners feel. One guest noted that her entire family got up on the wakesurf board on their very first day — credit to the step-by-step approach our team uses from safety briefing through water practice.
  • The vibe on the boat. Guests keep telling us the atmosphere is laid-back but focused. We work hard to make sure every session feels personalized, not rushed.
  • Families and groups. This summer we have seen a big uptick in multi-generational family charters, where everyone from kids to grandparents finds something to enjoy — whether that is wakesurfing, tubing off the lily pad, or just soaking up the hill country scenery from the deck.

What's New This Season

Private Summer Camps Are Now Available

One of the biggest additions this summer is our Private Summer Camp option. If none of our scheduled weekly camp dates work for your family, you can now book a custom multi-day camp built entirely around your schedule and your kids. You pick the dates, you pick the hours, and we build the experience around your campers.

Our standard summer camp weeks run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Walsh Boat Landing on Lake Austin or Mansfield Dam Park on Lake Travis, and they start at $760 per week. Private camps give families who need more flexibility the same full experience — professional instruction, all equipment, daily lunch, photos, and awards — on a timeline that actually works for them.

If that sounds like what your family needs, you can learn more about summer camp here.

Hydrofoiling Lessons Are on the Menu

We have always offered wakesurfing and wakeboarding instruction, but hydrofoiling lessons have become a genuine highlight this season. Foiling is a natural next step for experienced riders looking for something new, and watching a guest lift off the water for the first time never gets old. Our instructors cover foil setup, balance training, flight control, and speed management — and we provide the equipment.

If you are curious about hydrofoiling, our private lessons page has the full breakdown of what to expect.

More Lake Locations, More Scheduling Flexibility

We have expanded our presence on Lake LBJ and Lake Marble Falls this season to handle growing demand outside of the Austin metro. Both lakes offer beautiful Texas hill country scenery and excellent conditions for wakesurfing and wakeboarding. If you are closer to Marble Falls or Kingsland than you are to Austin, we can bring the experience to you.

What Guests Have Been Loving on the Water

Beyond the new offerings, a few specific things keep coming up when guests talk about their sessions:

The 4-hour charter. Our most popular charter option continues to be the standard four-hour package. It gives groups enough time to try multiple activities, find their footing on the wakesurf board, and still have time left over to just cruise and enjoy the lake. It includes the captain, all equipment, coolers with ice, and the Bluetooth sound system. See charter options here.

Video analysis in lessons. We record sessions during private lessons and review the footage with guests at the end. Guests consistently tell us this is one of the most useful parts of the lesson — being able to see what your body is doing on the board makes a huge difference in how quickly you improve.

The summer camp energy. Parents who have watched their kids go from never having stood on a board to dropping the rope and surfing on their own by Friday — that reaction never gets old. The camp structure builds confidence quickly because we keep groups small and instruction personal.

A Quick Milestone Worth Celebrating

We recently crossed 100 happy customers served across our lessons, charters, and camps — a milestone that means a lot to a company that started with three guys raised on Lake Travis who just wanted to share what they love about these lakes with everyone they could.

We are grateful to every guest who has booked with us, left a review, or referred a friend. The referral program is still active if you want to spread the word and get rewarded for it.

What Is Coming Next

The back half of summer is booking up fast, especially for Lake Travis charters on weekends. If you have a group trip, birthday, or bachelorette on the calendar, now is the time to lock in your date.

We are also continuing to add summer camp sessions as demand allows, and private camp slots are available on a rolling basis.

Ready to get out on the water? Book a charter, reserve a private lesson, or register your kids for summer camp — we would love to see you out there.
